As a ship builder, Damen has contributed to the tasks in WP 2 by sharing our experiences in system design and implementation to provide background to research and academic partners. Damen has described the hierarchical control framework with the interfaces to and between the systems to use as a basis for describing and specifying the architecture in FLEXSHIP. This hierarchical approach permits control functions to be separated, with Energy Management being of particular importance in realising the ship level functionality. Together with the partners, Damen has helped define these functional segregations and define the EMS setup for implementation.
