RINA’s contribution to FLEXSHIP project

RINA consists of the parent company RINA S.p.A., holding which controls the main sub-holdings RINA SERVICES S.p.A. (RINA-S) and RINA Consulting S.p.A. (RINA-C).

RINA-S is the RINA operating company providing a wide range of services, such as testing, certification, quality control, expediting and third-party inspection. Ship classification has been at the core of RINA business since its inception. RINA is founding member of the Inernational Association of Classification Societies (IACS) and today it is one of the top-ranking marine classification societies in the world. The RINA fleet is recognized by 116 international flag authorities.

Electrification and electrical energy storage are at the same time major drivers and major challenges to move the waterborne sector towards climate neutrality and decarbonization. FLEXSHIP is an excellent opportunity to pursue these objectives which are strategic for RINA Marine R&D.

RINA will support the technological partners on marine regulatory compliance, risk analysis, technology qualification process of innovative solutions, testing and safety issues.

Based on the project’s evolution RINA is expected to contribute to the Technology Qualification Process and approval in principle.

RINA will be also giving assistance in the demonstration activities, in cooperation with the classification society of the selected demo vessels (testing and commissioning, tests and trials) upon specific request, at commercial prices.
