Exciting expansion of EUWT – SE: Welcome, BlueBARGE!

We are delighted to announce the newest addition to the European Union Waterborne Transport – Synergies Ecosystem (EUWT – SE) collaboration: the pioneering BlueBARGE project!

Introducing BlueBARGE

BlueBARGE, which stands for Blue Bunkering of Anchored ships with Renewable Generated Electricity, is a cutting-edge initiative funded by the Horizon Europe program. This innovative project aims to transform the maritime industry by introducing a novel “cold ironing” model, leveraging shore-based power supplies to provide clean, renewable electricity to moored vessels.

Key Features of BlueBARGE:

-Innovative Technology: Development and testing of a groundbreaking shore-based power supply system.

-Environmental Sustainability: Significant reduction in maritime emissions by replacing traditional diesel generators with renewable energy sources.

-Efficiency Boost: Enhancing the operational efficiency of moored vessels with reliable and sustainable power.

-Future-Focused: Contributing to the EU’s ambitious environmental and sustainability goals.

With the integration of BlueBARGE into the EUWT – SE, we are making a significant leap forward in our commitment to sustainable maritime transport. This project not only represents a major technological advancement but also aligns perfectly with our mission to foster greener practices and reduce the carbon footprint of the maritime industry.
