Update from one of the FLEXSHIP task forces!

Task 2.2 is all about creating and checking the power management system (PMS) on the ship. This system handles the control and monitoring of the hybrid power and propulsion systems. Here’s who’s doing what:

Department of Marine Technology – NTNU is leading, using their know-how in control setups and checks through simulation.

ELKON is on board testing how power is shared in hybrid systems, looking at both AC and DC grids.

Working with the DC switchboard and engines, SCU is key in getting the software ready for managing and watching over energy use, making sure everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

DAMEN brings a ton of knowledge in ship design and systems, helping shape how power is controlled.

Fraunhofer jumps in with expertise in simulation and keeping an eye on systems, ensuring everything is working as it should be.

Together we are making sure the hybrid power system and electric motors are managed and monitored safely and effectively.

FLEXSHIP received funding from EU Horizon Europe research and innovation program under Grant Agreement no. 101095863.
